FEATURES
Study Plans engage students in the exploration of history, while fulfilling requirements for teaching to national Standards.
  • Journey Back In Time has indexed thousands of historical newspaper articles and documents to national Standards. Our easy to use interface allows teachers to select a Standard-Benchmark and view all of the articles and documents indexed to that Standard-Benchmark.

  • Although Journey Back In Time has employed experienced history teachers to prepare multiple-choice questionnaire Lessons, teachers can also easily create new Lessons. All Lessons can be used by any teacher from any school subscribed to Journey Back In Time.

  • Teachers can view all Lessons prepared for a particular Standard-Benchmark and quickly create a Lesson Assignment for their class from one of the Lessons.

  • When students login to the Lesson Assignment they can view the article referenced by each question on the questionnaire. Students can access the Assignment from school or home and do not need to complete the Assignment on each login. Answers selected by students are recorded for grading.

  • When the teacher logs in to retrieve an Assignment's grades they get to see a recap of all students. The recap displays each student's number of correct answers, wrong answers, skipped questions and a percentage grading on the Assignment. Teachers can print that recap and also print each student's completed questionnaire.

BENEFITS
The Study Plan index is the nation's largest catalog of primary resource material indexed to the U.S. History Standards published by UCLA's National Center for History in the Schools.
  • historical newspaper articles and documents are currently cross-referenced to 374 Standard Benchmarks. This indexing allows teachers to quickly find resource material by looking up the Benchmark.

  • In less than fifteen minutes a teacher can select a prepared Lesson and create a Lesson Assignment to fulfill the requirements for teaching a Benchmark.

  • By default a Lesson Assignment remains available for up to 180 days. Therefore teachers can prepare Assignments months in advance, allowing Assignments to be offered as extra credit options to students. The 180 day automatic expiration may be extended by the teacher.

  • Students are required to register a password for the Assignment so they can return to complete the Assignment. Journey Back In Time encourages teachers to instruct students to use their password for accessing their school's regular computer network since that password is known to the student. At no time does Journey Back In Time ask for a student's username so using the student's network password is safe. The password used by the student is on the recap printout for the questionnaire to verify that the student, and not someone else pretending to be the student, completed the questionnaire.
