Journey Back In Time In The Classroom
(using one computer)

Description:             Successful teaching suggestions for using one computer for classroom instruction with Journey Back in Time.

  • Connect your computer to a LCD projector or video monitor so that the whole class can browse Journey online together. Have students take turns clicking on articles and summaries and reading the information aloud.
  • Print out the articles, documents etc. that students need to complete activities and pass them out to students along with copies of the activities.
  • Assign small groups of students to work together on a limited number of computers (even just one) for about 15 to 20 minutes in rotation. Give the rest of the class other related activities to do while waiting their turn on the computer.
  • If you have computers available to your students that aren’t on the internet, use an offline software such as Web Whacker to capture and download needed Journey Back in Time content for those computers.
  • Assign activities and Scavenger Hunts as homework. Start the class following the instructions in 1) above and have them finish their work at home. Parents also enjoy working with Journey Back in Time.
